Walmart expands digital health platform to improve access to GLP-1 weight-management services

The updated platform now connects customers with companies such as Twin Health, Curai Health, Wheel, Berry Street, and Aaptiv.

USA—Walmart has expanded its Better Care Services platform to include several digital health providers, aiming to improve access to weight management support, including GLP-1 therapies.

The updated platform now connects customers with companies such as Twin Health, Curai Health, Wheel, Berry Street, and Aaptiv.

Each partner brings specialized services to the platform.

For instance, Aaptiv offers personalized fitness programs, nutrition content, and GLP-1 companion tools, while Berry Street connects users with registered dietitians for tailored nutrition therapy.

Affordable access to GLP-1 support

Meanwhile, Curai Health offers an AI-enabled virtual clinic with dietitian services, coaching, and cognitive health support.

Through Walmart’s partnership, eligible customers who are not enrolled in Medicare or Medicaid can access Curai’s weight-loss GLP-1 medication at no cost between April 15 and July 31, including clinician consultations.

Starting August 1, Curai will transition to a subscription-based model, offering virtual care and weight management services at USD 29 per month.

At the same time, Walmart is supporting individuals already using GLP-1 medications through MyCare by Twin Health, a program focused on long-term metabolic health and weight maintenance.

According to Walmart, MyCare delivers real-time insights into how lifestyle factors such as diet, sleep, and physical activity affect the body. These insights are paired with clinical support to help users build sustainable health habits.

Flexible telehealth and pharmacy integration

In addition, the platform integrates Wheel services, allowing customers to access obesity-trained healthcare providers without a subscription.

Users can schedule telehealth visits that include ongoing monitoring, medication management, and personalized care plans. Initial consultations are priced at USD99, while follow-up visits cost USD35.

Walmart Pharmacy will fulfill all prescriptions generated through the Better Care platform.

Customers will also gain access to Walmart Everyday Health Signal’s Nutrition Hub, which provides curated recipes and dietary guidance designed to support healthier lifestyles.

Furthermore, Walmart has introduced a redesigned GLP-1 digital hub on its website, enabling users to explore related services, products, and medically reviewed nutrition information in one place.

Broader access and strategic partnerships

Looking ahead, Walmart plans to expand its weight management offerings by adding more providers and services to the platform.

Beginning in July, eligible Medicare Part D beneficiaries will also gain temporary access to select GLP-1 medications through the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge demonstration program.

This expansion builds on Walmart’s earlier collaboration with Eli Lilly and Company.

Through this partnership, customers can access discounted direct-to-consumer pricing for the GLP-1 drug Zepbound (tirzepatide) via LillyDirect, with prescriptions available for pickup at Walmart pharmacies nationwide.

In 2024, Walmart also launched same-day prescription delivery, allowing customers to receive medications and everyday items in a single order through its app and website.
