Luminai secures USD38M in Series B funding to scale their AI-powered healthcare automation platform

Peak XV Partners leads investment round, with participation from Define Ventures and previous backers.

USA—San Francisco-based Luminai has closed a Series B funding round worth USD 38 million, bringing its total capital raised to USD 60 million.

Peak XV Partners led this investment round, joined by new investor Define Ventures and existing backers General Catalyst and Y Combinator.

The company intends to deploy these funds to expand its product offerings, hire more engineering and deployment staff, and strengthen support for its growing customer base.

Simplifying complex healthcare workflows

Luminai provides an artificial intelligence platform designed to streamline administrative operations across health systems.

The company enables data movement between disconnected systems, automates revenue cycle and billing processes, handles insurance authorization requests, and manages claims processing, form completion, and eligibility verification.

According to founder and CEO Kesava Kirupa Dinakaran, healthcare administrative functions represent a vast, labor-intensive coordination layer that has proven difficult to automate using traditional software solutions.

She explained that these workflows span multiple systems, involve unstructured data, and demand specialized business and clinical knowledge at each stage.

Dinakaran emphasized that recent advances in artificial intelligence have made it feasible to manage this complexity directly—not merely by automating individual tasks, but by executing complete workflows with dependability.

Building on earlier success

Luminai, which previously operated as DigitalBrain, obtained USD 16 million in Series A financing in 2022, following an initial seed round of USD 3.4 million.

The company operates in a competitive space alongside other healthcare automation providers.

Innovaccer, another San Francisco-based health data analytics firm, concluded a Series F round of USD275 million, combining primary and secondary investments.

Innovaccer achieved remarkable growth earlier, securing a USD 105 million Series D in 2021 that valued it at USD 1.3 billion, followed by a USD 150 million Series E later that year, which increased its valuation to USD 3.2 billion.

Similarly, Notable, which specialises in intelligent artificial intelligence agents for inbound, outbound, and referral processes, raised USD 100 million in Series B funding in 2021, nearly three years after announcing its USD 13.5 million Series A round.
