Siemens Healthineers debuts integrated CT-Guided PCI workflow system at EuroPCR 2026

The solution integrates Syngo.CT Coronary Cockpit on the Syngo.via platform with Syngo PCI Connect running on Artis angiography systems.

GERMANY—Siemens Healthineers has introduced a new integrated solution to streamline CT-guided percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), a minimally invasive technique for restoring blood flow to the heart, at EuroPCR in Germany.

The company showcased a connected workflow that links diagnosis, plaque assessment, procedural planning, and intraoperative guidance within a unified digital environment.

By transferring pre-procedural coronary CT data directly into the catheterization lab, the system enables clinicians to approach interventions with clearer anatomical insight and improved procedural planning.

Connected imaging across the Cath lab workflow

The solution integrates Syngo.CT Coronary Cockpit on the Syngo.via platform with Syngo PCI Connect running on Artis angiography systems.

It enables seamless transfer of coronary CT angiography data into the cath lab, where physicians can analyze vessel morphology, plaque distribution, and lumen dimensions in high resolution.

In addition, clinicians can predefine stent placement markers and compare synchronized side-by-side imaging views during interventions.

The system also aligns the C-arm with CT imaging in real time, ensuring that adjustments in one interface are automatically reflected in the other.

This bidirectional synchronization supports smoother navigation and reduces the need for repeated manual positioning during procedures.

Recent demonstrations at EuroPCR also highlighted support for advanced imaging datasets, including photon-counting CT inputs, which further enhance plaque characterization and procedural planning efficiency.

Advancing precision in coronary procedures

Traditional PCI typically relies on invasive 2D angiography, which can limit visibility of plaque complexity and vessel structure.

This often affects stent sizing accuracy and lesion assessment, contributing to longer procedures and increased radiation exposure for both patients and clinical teams.

CT-guided PCI addresses these challenges by enabling detailed planning before the patient enters the cath lab.

Professor Samuel Tobias Sossalla of the Kerckhoff Clinic Bad Nauheim and the University Clinic Gießen noted that integrating CT data into angiography systems enables clinicians to define intervention strategies in advance and execute procedures with greater precision.

He emphasized that real-time access to synchronized imaging during procedures improves decision-making and supports more controlled interventions.

Industry perspective and clinical integration

Siemens Healthineers highlighted that operators can adjust CT images to achieve optimal vessel visualization, with those adjustments automatically guiding C-arm positioning through an intuitive joystick interface.

Doris Pommi, head of Cardiovascular Care at Siemens Healthineers, described the development as a major step toward simplifying complex cardiac interventions by bringing CT-derived insights directly into the procedural environment.

She added that integrating CT information into the cath lab enhances clarity in coronary artery disease management and supports more confident procedural execution.

The company further positioned the workflow within its broader digital cardiology portfolio, where automation and data integration continue to shape future cath lab environments.
