Moscow delegation showcases AI-driven neuroradiology at Head and Neck Radiology congress

RUSSIA—The Center for Diagnostics and Telemedicine of the Moscow Healthcare Department has strengthened its international presence after participating in the Congress of the Asia-Pacific Society of Head and Neck Radiology (APSHNR) in Denpasar, Indonesia.

The meeting brought together leading radiology specialists, researchers, and healthcare professionals from Asia, Europe, North America, and Australia to discuss advances in medical imaging, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital healthcare.

Showcasing AI and digital health expertise

During the congress, specialists from the Moscow-based center presented research on head and neck imaging, the use of AI-powered diagnostic algorithms, and strategies for improving the quality of medical imaging examinations.

They also highlighted Russia’s experience in healthcare digitalization, professional training, and the development of regulatory standards that support the safe adoption of AI in clinical practice.

Olga Omelyanskaya, Chief Innovation Officer at the Center for Diagnostics and Telemedicine, said international collaboration remains one of the institution’s strategic priorities.

She explained that participation in global scientific forums allows the center to exchange knowledge with international experts while showcasing its own advances in radiation diagnostics, digital healthcare, and artificial intelligence.

According to Omelyanskaya, these interactions create opportunities for joint research projects, educational initiatives, and the sharing of best practices that can improve patient care across different healthcare systems.

Recognition opens new opportunities

The center’s contributions received positive feedback from congress participants and members of the APSHNR Executive Committee.

As a result, the organization was invited to join the society’s Executive Committee, giving its specialists a greater role in shaping future educational programs and collaborative scientific activities.

The new position will allow the Moscow team to work closely with international partners on training initiatives, research projects, and the exchange of expertise in radiology and medical AI.

Following the meeting, delegates also confirmed APSHNR leaders’ participation in the Russian Diagnostic Summit, scheduled to take place in Moscow later in 2026.

Discussions further explored collaborative research in neuroradiology, particularly in the application of artificial intelligence to support image interpretation and improve diagnostic accuracy.

Building on recent AI progress

The international engagement comes as the Center for Diagnostics and Telemedicine continues to expand its AI capabilities.

Earlier this month, the institution announced the nationwide expansion of the MosMedAI platform, which has now supported the analysis of more than 35 million medical imaging studies using computer vision technologies.

The program has also helped establish 28 national standards governing the safe use of AI in healthcare across Russia.

The center recently introduced new educational manuals to train radiologists and healthcare professionals in the practical use of AI-powered diagnostic tools.

These resources combine real-world clinical experience with hands-on learning to support the safe integration of AI into routine medical practice.
