USA—NueCell Bio has launched as a cell therapy science and development services company focused on helping developers advance novel cell-based treatments from scientific discovery to clinical readiness.
Headquartered in San Diego’s Sorrento Valley area, the company operates from a 26,300-square-foot facility equipped to support cell therapy research and development.
NueCell Bio aims to serve as a specialist partner for developers seeking to accelerate the progression of advanced cell therapies through key stages of development.
Broad cell therapy expertise
NueCell Bio brings together expertise across several areas of advanced therapy development.
The company’s scientific capabilities include chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapies and treatments derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).
Its areas of focus also encompass stem cell technologies, gene-edited cells and tissue repair platforms.
This breadth of expertise allows the company to support both autologous therapies, which use a patient’s own cells, and allogeneic therapies, which use cells from a donor.
NueCell Bio says its capabilities are designed to support customers developing a range of emerging cell therapy products.
The company offers customizable, modular technologies for cell engineering and can help developers establish scalable manufacturing processes that meet good manufacturing practice (GMP) requirements.
In addition, the company provides analytical development capabilities intended to support the characterization and advancement of cell therapy candidates as they move toward clinical development.
Supporting development programmes
NueCell Bio plans to use its scientific and technical capabilities to address challenges that can emerge at different stages of cell therapy development.
These challenges can vary significantly depending on the technology, product and stage of development.
The company’s leadership team includes scientists and executives with experience across cell therapy research, analytical development and manufacturing.

According to Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer Uma Lakshmipathy, PhD, NueCell Bio aims to tailor its support to the specific needs of each development programme rather than applying a single approach across different technologies.
“NueCell Bio is distinctively positioned to advance cell therapies from early discovery through clinical development,” Lakshmipathy said.
“The scientific, analytical, and development challenges that create risk for one company may be very different for another.”
She added that the company’s role will be to assess each programme’s development stage, determine the requirements for further progress and apply the relevant scientific and technical expertise.
Through this approach, NueCell Bio intends to provide modular development support for companies working to translate cell therapy discoveries into programmes capable of progressing toward clinical testing.
