ABEC to open new biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility in North Carolina

The facility will add to ABEC’s existing manufacturing operations in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and Springfield, Missouri, as well as its facilities in Fermoy and Kells, Ireland.

USA—ABEC is set to open a new manufacturing facility in Wilson, North Carolina, as the biopharmaceutical process equipment and consumables manufacturer expands its US production network.

The company will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on 24 September to mark the opening.

ABEC executives, employees, business partners and community leaders are expected to attend the event, which will also provide an opportunity to showcase the new facility and its operations.

According to the company, the Wilson plant will manufacture bioprocess equipment and consumable products used to develop and produce biologics, vaccines, and other advanced medicines.

The facility will add to ABEC’s existing manufacturing operations in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and Springfield, Missouri, as well as its facilities in Fermoy and Kells, Ireland.

ABEC CEO Scott Pickering said the opening represents an important milestone in the company’s efforts to support the growing global biopharmaceutical industry.

“Opening our Wilson facility marks another important milestone in ABEC’s commitment to supporting the global biopharmaceutical industry,” Pickering said.

He added that the investment will increase the company’s manufacturing capacity while bringing it closer to customers across the southeastern United States.

The facility will also strengthen ABEC’s ability to supply biopharmaceutical manufacturers with process equipment, consumables and engineering services, according to Pickering.

He said the company was pleased to become part of the Wilson community and looked forward to developing long term partnerships across the region.

Investment in a growing life sciences hub

ABEC said it selected Wilson because of the area’s growing role in the US life sciences sector.

The region has attracted increasing investment in biotechnology, pharmaceutical manufacturing and related industries, creating demand for specialised manufacturing and technical expertise.

The new facility is expected to create additional manufacturing and technical jobs in eastern North Carolina.

Its operations will support ABEC’s broader manufacturing network and provide the company with a production base closer to customers in the southeastern US.

The opening ceremony will include tours of the facility and recognition of the employees, contractors, community organisations and local authorities involved in the project.

Their participation has supported the development and establishment of the new manufacturing site.

Supporting biopharmaceutical manufacturing

ABEC provides engineered process solutions and services to companies involved in biotechnology and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Its services cover several stages of the manufacturing process, including process development, facility design, equipment manufacturing, installation and technical support.

The company supplies equipment and related solutions to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies producing biologics, vaccines, and other therapies.

Through its manufacturing facilities in the United States and Ireland, ABEC produces equipment and consumables designed to support biopharmaceutical production.

The Wilson facility will add to this network as the company expands its manufacturing presence in the US market.
