Unilabs Middle East partners with Takalam to improve digital healthcare access ahead of World Mental Health Day

The partnership aims to simplify access to health services and encourage people to take a more proactive approach to their physical and mental wellbeing.

UAE—Unilabs Middle East and Takalam have expanded their collaboration ahead of World Mental Health Day, giving UAE users direct access to selected diagnostic services through Takalam’s digital mental health and wellbeing platform.

The initiative links laboratory diagnostics with digital wellbeing services, letting users explore and book selected Unilabs Middle East health packages through the Takalam app.

The partnership aims to simplify access to health services and encourage people to take a more proactive approach to their physical and mental wellbeing.

Integrating diagnostics into digital wellbeing

Through the app, Takalam users can access selected diagnostic packages without navigating separate digital platforms.

The arrangement extends diagnostics beyond individual medical appointments by adding testing options to a platform focused on mental health and wellbeing.

The expansion reflects a broader shift toward connected healthcare services, where digital platforms let people access different aspects of care through a single entry point.

Integrating diagnostic services into these platforms could also help providers reach users who may not otherwise seek routine health assessments.

Unilabs Middle East said the initiative is part of its strategy to strengthen diagnostics throughout the healthcare journey.

The company is pursuing digital solutions and strategic partnerships to improve access to health information and support prevention, early intervention, and informed healthcare decisions.

Dr Ali Bayoumi, Medical Officer at Unilabs Middle East, said the company aims to make diagnostic services and health insights more accessible and relevant to individuals.

He noted that demand for proactive and preventive healthcare was growing across the UAE and the wider region, as people increasingly sought to understand their health and make informed decisions.

“Our collaboration with Takalam brings diagnostics and mental wellbeing closer together and makes them more accessible through a connected digital experience,” Bayoumi said.

He added that combining diagnostic expertise with digital platforms and strategic partnerships could create new ways for individuals to access and engage with healthcare services.

Partnership builds on Abu Dhabi’s HealthTech ecosystem

The expanded collaboration also builds on Unilabs Middle East’s relationship with Hub71, Abu Dhabi’s global technology ecosystem, through Hub71+ Life Sciences.

The initiative supports startups working across healthcare technology and life sciences.

As an anchor market partner, Unilabs Middle East works with ecosystem companies, including Takalam, to explore opportunities to integrate diagnostic capabilities with digital platforms and healthcare services.

These partnerships give technology companies and established healthcare providers a path to develop more connected service models.

For diagnostic providers, partnerships with digital health platforms offer opportunities to extend their reach beyond traditional laboratory settings.

They can also help integrate testing into broader healthcare experiences, although access to a platform does not itself guarantee that users will complete recommended tests or receive follow-up care.

Connecting physical and mental wellbeing

Khawla Hammad, Chief Executive Officer of Takalam, said the company views wellbeing as a combination of mental and physical health.

“Bringing diagnostic services and wellbeing together through one accessible experience is a natural step forward for us, and a direct expression of our mission to make proactive, personalised wellbeing a normal part of everyday life in the Arab world,” Hammad said.

She added that Takalam welcomed the collaboration with Unilabs Middle East because both organisations shared a commitment to improving access to more connected healthcare services across the region.

Under the expanded arrangement, users can explore and book selected Unilabs Middle East diagnostic services directly through the Takalam app.

The offering brings laboratory testing options into a digital environment focused on mental health support and everyday wellbeing.
