The financing round was co-led by M Ventures, the venture capital arm of Merck KGaA, and GordonMD Global Investments.
Following completion of the transaction, the business will operate under the new name Medswana Laborex and become part of CFAO Healthcare’s pan-African network.
The agreement also supports GlobeMed Gulf’s broader strategy of expanding access to high-quality healthcare for its growing base of insured members.

Astex will also qualify for development, regulatory, and commercial milestone payments exceeding US$465 million, totaling US$490 million with the upfront payment included.
