SAUDI ARABIA—bioMérieux has officially opened its new regional headquarters in Riyadh, marking a significant expansion of the company’s footprint in the Middle East.

The French diagnostics firm celebrated the inauguration on November 25 with a ceremony that brought together high-level officials and healthcare leaders from across the region.

Alexandre Mérieux, Chairman of bioMérieux, attended the launch event alongside representatives from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health and other key government authorities.

Patrick Maisonnave, Ambassador of France to Saudi Arabia, also participated in the ceremony, highlighting the diplomatic importance of this healthcare collaboration between the two nations.

The establishment of this headquarters marks a pivotal moment for bioMérieux, strengthening its operational capacity in the Middle East.

The facility will serve as a central hub for driving innovation, fostering partnerships, and delivering enhanced customer support throughout the region.

By establishing a presence in Riyadh, the company aims to work more closely with healthcare providers and authorities to advance diagnostic capabilities across multiple countries.

During the inauguration, bioMérieux formalized its partnership with the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia by signing a Memorandum of Understanding.

This agreement focuses specifically on addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR), which poses a growing threat to public health systems worldwide.

The collaboration will bring concrete solutions to combat this challenge through targeted interventions designed to reduce AMR’s impact across the Kingdom.

The partnership includes comprehensive training programs for healthcare professionals and educational initiatives to build local expertise in antimicrobial stewardship.

These programs will equip medical teams with the knowledge and tools needed to make informed decisions about antibiotic use, ultimately helping to slow the development and spread of drug-resistant infections.

Alexandre Bustani, PharmD, Strategic Partnership Manager for Global Health at bioMérieux, shared his enthusiasm about the company’s expanded presence in Saudi Arabia.

He emphasized that this milestone reinforces bioMérieux’s dedication to supporting Vision 2030, the Kingdom’s ambitious blueprint for economic and social transformation.

The company plans to achieve this through strategic alliances with healthcare authorities and key stakeholders across the sector.

Bustani expressed confidence that these collaborative efforts will lead to measurable improvements in public health outcomes throughout Saudi Arabia.

He noted that the regional headquarters will empower bioMérieux’s teams to deliver cutting-edge diagnostic solutions that align with the Kingdom’s progressive healthcare objectives.

The company looks forward to contributing to the advancement of medical diagnostics and laboratory medicine as Saudi Arabia continues to modernize its healthcare infrastructure and expand access to quality medical services for its population.
