Greek Pharma Leader ELPEN establishes first MEA Subsidiary in UAE

This hub will enable closer collaboration with health authorities, clinicians, scientific associations, medical societies, and institutional partners throughout the Middle East and Africa.

UAE— Greek pharmaceutical manufacturer ELPEN has announced the launch of its first Middle East and Africa (MEA) subsidiary in the United Arab Emirates, marking a major milestone in the company’s international expansion strategy.

The move reinforces ELPEN’s long-term commitment to improving healthcare access and advancing medical innovation across the region.

With new offices established in the UAE, ELPEN’s MEA subsidiary will serve as its regional strategic center.

This hub will enable closer collaboration with health authorities, clinicians, scientific associations, medical societies, and institutional partners throughout the Middle East and Africa.

The initiative reflects ELPEN’s dedication to working in partnership with stakeholders to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and ensure the availability of safe, high-quality medicines.

According to Theodore Tryfon, co-chief executive officer of ELPEN Group, the company’s entry into the UAE carries forward a legacy of nearly six decades of Greek scientific innovation and reliable pharmaceutical manufacturing.

By connecting this heritage with a nation that continues to invest decisively in world-class healthcare, ELPEN aims to foster long-term collaborations that enhance patient access, advance research, and support sustainable growth within the regional pharmaceutical industry.

He emphasized that, as one of Greece’s most advanced and research-driven pharmaceutical groups, ELPEN remains committed to maintaining high production standards and a strong focus on research and development.

This ensures that Greek-manufactured medicines continue to serve as credible, innovation-oriented partners in alignment with the UAE’s healthcare vision.

As the region experiences increasing demand for trusted, accessible, and effective medicines, the new subsidiary positions ELPEN to operate with greater agility and cultural understanding while remaining closely attuned to the specific needs of local healthcare systems.

This proximity allows the company to tailor its strategies and services more effectively, ensuring that patients benefit from consistent quality and scientific excellence.

ELPEN has appointed Mohammad Allakany as General Manager for the Middle East and Africa.

Bringing decades of experience in the healthcare industry and a proven record of leadership, he will oversee the company’s regional growth strategy and business development efforts across MEA.

His appointment underscores ELPEN’s commitment to building a strong regional team capable of sustaining long-term partnerships and operational excellence.

Lefteris Tryfon, Chief Operating Officer of ELPEN Group, stated that the company’s expansion into the UAE represents more than just a geographic growth step—it is a strategic move carefully planned over several years.

He noted that ELPEN is investing in a region that values quality, prioritizes science, and seeks trustworthy partnerships.

With operations in more than 90 countries worldwide, ELPEN makes selective direct investments only where it can deliver lasting, meaningful value.

He added that as the company’s international operations accelerate—with business expected to double by 2028—the UAE will serve as a key enabler of ELPEN’s regional ambitions.

The new subsidiary will empower the company to broaden patient access to high-quality treatments and contribute to better health outcomes across the Middle East and Africa.
