Dr. Musuva takes the helm following the departure of Dr. Tim Theuri, whose fixed-term contract as CEO concluded on February 8th, 2026.

KENYA—The Kenya Healthcare Federation (KHF) has announced a significant leadership transition, with Dr. Anne Musuva, a current KHF Board Member, assuming the role of Acting CEO effective February 9th, 2026.
The appointment comes as the organization launches its search for a permanent chief executive to lead the federation into its next chapter.
Dr. Musuva takes the helm following the departure of Dr. Tim Theuri, whose fixed-term contract as CEO concluded on February 8th, 2026.
Dr. K. K. Gakombe, Chairman of the Kenya Healthcare Federation, confirmed that the Board of Directors has established comprehensive leadership arrangements to ensure seamless continuity of operations during this transitional period.
Three years of transformation
Speaking about his departure, Dr. Theuri offered a candid reflection on what he described as an extraordinary three-year journey that proved transformative both personally and professionally.
He expressed deep pride in the collective achievements the federation has realized for Kenya’s health sector during his tenure.
Dr. Theuri emphasized that the federation’s journey centered on an unwavering commitment to elevating the private sector’s contribution to national health priorities.
Under his leadership, KHF expanded its membership into a formidable and unified voice that now serves as a central pillar in the country’s policy discourse.
Navigating complex healthcare reforms
The outgoing CEO highlighted the organization’s successful navigation of the complexities surrounding Kenya’s healthcare financing architecture transformation.
The federation played a crucial role in laying the groundwork for the transition to the Social Health Authority, ensuring that provider network interests remained at the forefront of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.
Dr. Theuri noted that KHF actively engaged stakeholders to address the country’s healthcare challenges while simultaneously advocating for an improved business environment for healthcare providers.
These dual efforts expanded the sector’s business footprint while advancing policy victories that benefit the broader health ecosystem.
Valuing human connections and collaboration
Beyond policy achievements and organizational growth, Dr. Theuri emphasized that he values most the human connections forged during his tenure.
He fondly recalled late-night strategy sessions, spirited debates in committee rooms, and the shared vision that united members and development partners throughout this journey.
The departing CEO expressed particular gratitude for the unwavering support of the KHF Board and the tireless dedication of the Secretariat team, crediting their collaborative efforts as essential to making his role truly special.
A strong foundation for the future
Dr. Theuri expressed complete confidence in the federation’s future trajectory, emphasizing that the foundations established during his tenure remain robust.
The organization’s focus on healthcare productivity, digital integration, and local manufacturing has created a stronger platform than ever before.
He reaffirmed that the mission to provide quality, affordable healthcare to every Kenyan remains the federation’s guiding principle.
Looking ahead to new challenges
As he steps away from KHF, Dr. Theuri shared plans to recharge and sharpen his skills for future opportunities.
He described himself as someone driven by meaningful transformation that exists at the intersection of strategic investment and tangible social impact, particularly in situations requiring more than just capital—where vision for improvement becomes paramount.
Dr. Theuri indicated openness to exploring high-stakes problems that demand analytical rigor combined with what he termed “the human element”—leveraging deep social networks and interpersonal influence to drive solutions.
He welcomed opportunities to collaborate with organizations facing such challenges, whether immediately or when timing aligns appropriately.
