Sheikh Mohammed inaugurates World Health Expo Dubai 2026, highlighting the UAE’s healthcare vision

UAE—His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has officially opened the World Health Expo Dubai 2026 (WHX) on February 9th at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo City Dubai.

The four-day event, running until February 12th, operates under the theme “Where the World of Healthcare Meets” and marks the largest gathering in the expo’s five-decade history.

Healthcare Development as a national priority

During the opening ceremony, His Highness emphasized that advancing the healthcare system remains a national priority centered on people and quality of life.

He highlighted the UAE’s ongoing commitment to strengthening healthcare sector readiness, supporting medical innovation, and adopting advanced solutions to build resilient, sustainable health systems that can adapt to global change.

“The healthcare sector forms one of the core pillars of comprehensive development,” Sheikh Mohammed stated.

“Our investment in medical innovation, knowledge, and specialized training reflects our vision for a future where prevention forms the foundation of healthcare policies, and technology serves as a key partner in enhancing service quality and outcomes to boost community health and strengthen system sustainability.”

Strengthening Dubai’s global healthcare hub status

His Highness explained that hosting this global healthcare exhibition reinforces the UAE’s role as an international platform for shaping advanced healthcare solutions.

Dubai serves as a progressive model that brings healthcare stakeholders together under a unified vision focused on prevention, preparedness, and quality of life.

This positioning aligns with the objectives of the UAE Centennial 2071 vision and strengthens the nation’s role in shaping healthcare’s future both regionally and globally.

Sheikh Mohammed toured the exhibition accompanied by senior officials, including H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Health Board of Directors; Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Prevention, and other key healthcare and government leaders.

Unprecedented scale and participation

The expo attracts more than 235,000 specialized visitors from over 180 countries, with participation from more than 4,800 exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge solutions across medical devices, diagnostics, digital health, healthcare infrastructure, biotechnology, and life sciences.

This remarkable scale further establishes Dubai’s standing as a global center for advancing healthcare systems.

During his exhibition tour, Sheikh Mohammed reviewed advanced healthcare solutions and medical technologies that demonstrate the sector’s development and innovation’s role in strengthening healthcare system readiness, supporting digital transformation, and enhancing service quality.

His Highness visited pavilions of leading global companies including Dräger, United Imaging, Samsung, and GE HealthCare, where he received briefings on the latest solutions in critical care, medical imaging, digital health, and AI-powered smart technologies and their contributions to improving diagnostic accuracy, clinical efficiency, and healthcare outcomes.

He also toured pavilions of national healthcare entities, including Dubai Health and the Ministry of Health and Prevention, and reviewed key initiatives focused on digital transformation, preventive care, and improving healthcare service quality.

Additionally, His Highness examined the Field Support Unit vehicle showcased by the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, equipped with advanced medical technologies to enhance emergency response and deliver sophisticated on-site care.

Comprehensive educational and clinical programs

Several WHX-accredited conferences launched today as part of the continuing medical education program, delivering internationally recognised education across key medical specialities, including general surgery, diagnostic radiology, public health, obstetrics and gynaecology, urology, and quality management and patient safety.

More than 300 regional and international experts lead these CME-accredited conferences, offering sessions that provide practical clinical insights and the latest evidence-based approaches contributing to advancing patient care and healthcare service delivery.

New flagship platforms target healthcare transformation

WHX introduced three new flagship platforms addressing comprehensive global healthcare transformation.

The Future X Stage highlights disruptive technologies and scalable digital health solutions through opening sessions, including “Levelling the Operating Room: Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence for Safer Surgery Anywhere” and “Longevity’s Dirty Secret: How an USD8 Trillion Industry is Selling a Future We Cannot Afford.”

The Frontiers Stage explores the latest advances in biotechnology, life sciences, oncology, women’s health, wellness, and longevity, with sessions on cell therapy, the future of medicine, and AI’s growing adoption in healthcare and life sciences.

The Visionary Stage brings together senior leaders to examine healthcare investment, AI, environmental, social and governance considerations, and system-wide leadership.

Opening day sessions included “Governing Health AI: Sovereign Strategies, Global Standards and Clinical Accountability” and “From Hype to Hospital Floor: Operationalising Agentic and Physical AI.”

The Ministry of Health and Prevention patronizes World Health Expo Dubai 2026, with strong support from government entities and healthcare authorities across the UAE.

The event aligns with national priorities in innovation, preventive care, digital transformation, and the development of sustainable healthcare systems.

WHX runs concurrently with WHX Labs, the region’s leading laboratory and diagnostics event, which takes place at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from February 10th to 13th.
