Burjeel Holdings opens advanced Heart Institute in Al Ain

The institute brings together a team of internationally trained cardiologists and heart specialists who offer complete care spanning prevention, early detection, complex procedures, and ongoing disease management.

UAE—Burjeel Holdings has opened the doors to its new Burjeel Heart Institute in Al Ain, bringing advanced cardiovascular care closer to residents across the emirate and surrounding regions.

The dedicated facility promises to transform heart care in the area by bringing together cutting-edge technology, experienced specialists, and a patient-first philosophy all under one roof.

A landmark opening

The institute’s launch drew significant attention from government officials and community leaders. Hashima Al Afari from the Federal National Council attended alongside Rashid Al Mannaei, who heads Al Ain Municipality, and Fahad Al Nuaimi, Director of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in Al Ain.

Representatives from various government departments also joined the ceremony to mark this healthcare milestone.

Meeting critical healthcare needs

Dr Abdullah Al Nuaimi, who leads the institute as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, outlined the centre’s mission to provide fast, high-quality heart care right in the local community.

“We’re building a leading cardiovascular centre that can respond quickly when patients face urgent cardiac emergencies while also supporting those managing chronic heart conditions over the long term,” he explained.

The new facility means patients no longer need to travel far for advanced cardiac treatment.

Comprehensive cardiac services

The institute brings together a team of internationally trained cardiologists and heart specialists who offer complete care spanning prevention, early detection, complex procedures, and ongoing disease management.

Patients can access sophisticated interventional cardiology procedures including diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterisation, coronary and peripheral interventions, carotid artery procedures, pacemaker implantation, and renal denervation for stubborn hypertension cases.

The centre also runs specialized programmes for heart failure patients and those needing arrhythmia monitoring, along with treatment for hypertension, high cholesterol, coronary artery disease, and angina.

State-of-the-Art Technology

The facility houses a fully equipped cardiac catheterisation laboratory, CT coronary angiography systems, advanced echocardiography equipment, stress testing technology, and Holter monitoring services.

This comprehensive setup allows doctors to diagnose problems accurately and begin treatment immediately without sending patients elsewhere for tests or procedures.

Beyond procedures to prevention

Professor Abdullah Shehab, a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Burjeel Royal Hospital in Al Ain, emphasized the institute’s holistic approach.

“Modern cardiovascular care isn’t just about performing procedures anymore. We’re focusing heavily on prevention and continuous care throughout a patient’s journey,” he said.

The institute blends advanced treatment capabilities with robust preventive programmes to guide patients from initial risk assessment through complex interventions and long-term follow-up care.

International medical collaboration

To celebrate the opening, Burjeel Hospital in Al Ain hosted its first International Cardiology Symposium in partnership with The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

The event brought together twelve expert speakers from both the United States and UAE, attracting over 200 healthcare professionals and delegates.

This gathering represented an important step in building academic and clinical ties between Burjeel Hospitals and Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Milly Valverde, who directs Destination Medicine Global Health Care at The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute at Ohio State, described the symposium as a valuable platform for strengthening professional relationships and pushing cardiovascular care forward.

Commitment to Excellence

Dr Aysha Ali Ahmed Abdulla Almahri, Chief Executive Officer for Burjeel Holdings’ Al Ain Region, said the launch demonstrates the company’s dedication to delivering world-class medical expertise and innovation throughout the UAE.

Through the Burjeel Heart Institute and its growing international partnerships, the organization aims to elevate specialized cardiac services in Al Ain while raising clinical standards through global knowledge sharing.
