Aster Volunteers expands mobile healthcare access with five new units in India

INDIA—Aster Volunteers, the global CSR arm of Aster DM Healthcare, has expanded its community outreach by launching five new Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) in Bengaluru.

This addition brings the organization’s global fleet to 76 units, with 54 now operating across India, reinforcing its commitment to improving healthcare access for underserved populations.

The capital expenditure for the new units was facilitated through the Aster DM Foundation.

Meanwhile, Aster Volunteers is working closely with Thanal (Daya Rehabilitation Trust) and Malabar Gold & Diamonds Charitable Trust to ensure effective implementation and long-term sustainability.

These partnerships aim to strengthen grassroots engagement while delivering consistent and reliable healthcare services.

Targeting underserved urban communities

The newly launched units will be deployed across Ranchi, Kanpur, Bhopal, Jaipur, and Bhubaneswar.

They are designed to serve vulnerable populations, including the urban poor, slum residents, the elderly, homeless individuals, and street dwellers.

Earlier deployments in cities such as Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Patna, and Kolkata laid the groundwork for this expanded rollout, demonstrating the growing demand for mobile healthcare services.

Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, emphasized that the initiative reflects the organization’s continued focus on bridging healthcare gaps.

He noted that bringing essential services directly to communities enables early diagnosis, preventive screening, and timely medical intervention, which are critical for improving health outcomes.

He further highlighted that these mobile units go beyond basic service delivery, positioning them as tools to promote equitable healthcare access and address systemic disparities in care availability.

Collaborative efforts driving impact

The launch event brought together key stakeholders, including Dr. Azad Moopen; Ms. Alisha Moopen, Deputy Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare; Mr. Abdul Nazer of Daya Rehabilitation Trust; and representatives from Malabar Group.

Mr. M.P. Ahammed, Chairman of Malabar Group, stated that the collaboration reflects a shared vision of making healthcare accessible to marginalized communities.

He added that the continued expansion of the mobile fleet demonstrates strong coordination and trust among the partner organizations.

Furthermore, he stressed the importance of maintaining operational sustainability while delivering meaningful community impact.

According to him, the initiative not only improves access to care but also helps restore dignity and enhance quality of life for underserved populations.

Comprehensive services on wheels

Each mobile medical unit is equipped with medical-grade interiors to ensure safe and efficient service delivery.

The units will offer free primary consultations, screening for non-communicable diseases, maternal and child healthcare services, health education, and referrals for specialized treatment when needed.

Through Aster Volunteers, Aster DM Healthcare continues to expand its outreach efforts, focusing on preventive care and timely medical support.

These initiatives aim to bring essential healthcare services closer to communities with limited access while addressing persistent gaps through a more inclusive and community-centered approach.
