Burjeel Medical City opens specialized sleep clinic in UAE

The new facility is designed to address the growing prevalence of sleep disorders, which remain among the most underdiagnosed health conditions despite their serious impact on long-term wellbeing.

UAE—Burjeel Holdings has expanded its specialized healthcare services with the launch of a dedicated Sleep Clinic at Burjeel Medical City, reinforcing its focus on advanced, patient-centered care.

The new facility is designed to address the growing prevalence of sleep disorders, which remain among the most underdiagnosed health conditions despite their serious impact on long-term well-being.

The launch marks another milestone in Burjeel Medical City’s broader strategy to strengthen its high-acuity clinical platforms.

In recent weeks, the hospital has also introduced specialized services such as an advanced epilepsy monitoring unit and expanded neurological care capabilities, reflecting Burjeel Holdings’ continued investment in highly specialized medical services across the UAE.

The healthcare group recently reported strong operational growth, supported by rising patient volumes and ongoing expansion of advanced clinical offerings across its network.

Addressing a growing health challenge

Medical experts continue to stress that sleep is not simply restorative rest but an essential physiological process that directly affects overall health.

Untreated sleep disorders are closely linked to serious complications, including cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, cognitive impairment, and reduced daily performance.

Recognizing this growing challenge, the new Sleep Clinic offers comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services for a broad range of conditions, including sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome, and circadian rhythm disorders.

Many of these conditions often remain undetected for years, leaving patients vulnerable to preventable health complications.

To ensure accurate diagnosis and effective treatment, the clinic brings together a multidisciplinary team of specialists in pulmonology, ear, nose and throat medicine, neurology, cardiology, and psychiatry.

This collaborative approach enables physicians to assess each patient holistically and develop integrated treatment plans tailored to individual needs.

Advanced diagnostics and personalized treatment

The clinic offers specialized consultations alongside advanced sleep studies conducted both at home and within the hospital’s sleep laboratory through polysomnography (PSG). These assessments allow clinicians to identify the underlying causes of sleep disturbances with precision.

Treatment options include Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP), and other individualized interventions designed to restore healthy sleep patterns.

Dr. Mujtaba Ali Khan, CEO of Burjeel Medical City, described the clinic as a significant addition to the hospital’s advanced care ecosystem, emphasizing that sleep health plays a vital role in both prevention and treatment.

Dr. Humam Schakaki, Consultant in Sleep Medicine and Clinical Lead of the Sleep Clinic, noted that the center combines cutting-edge diagnostic technologies with a multidisciplinary care model to enable earlier diagnosis and more effective management of sleep-related conditions.

Expanding Burjeel’s Specialized healthcare network

The launch aligns with Burjeel Holdings’ wider expansion strategy, which has recently included new specialty centers, smart outpatient facilities, and enhanced access to advanced care across the UAE.

These developments continue to strengthen the group’s position as one of the region’s leading providers of super-specialty healthcare services.
