Novo Nordisk will also use H1’s technology to support several aspects of clinical research, including trial design, patient enrollment and clinical trial site selection.

USA— Healthcare data company H1 has partnered with Novo Nordisk to develop artificial intelligence (AI) models and workflows aimed at supporting drug discovery and improving the design and execution of clinical trials.
New York-based H1, founded in 2017, operates an AI-powered platform that helps identify healthcare providers and connect organizations with relevant medical experts.
Its technology is used by technology companies, health plans, health systems and life sciences organizations to support clinical and operational decision-making.
AI to support clinical development
Under the partnership, H1 and Novo Nordisk will develop AI-ready data and clinical development workflows.
Novo Nordisk will also use H1’s technology to support several aspects of clinical research, including trial design, patient enrollment and clinical trial site selection.
The collaboration will also transfer development rights for Novo Nordisk’s StudyHub digital platform to H1.
The platform is designed to organize clinical trial information and help development teams make faster, more informed decisions throughout the drug development process.
“H1 is the right partner for this work with its domain expertise, AI-ready proprietary data, and AI technology to advance what we have built at Novo Nordisk,” said Mishal Patel, group vice president of AI and digital innovation for research and development at Novo Nordisk.
He added that the expanded use of AI could help reduce development cycle times, address process inefficiencies, and improve the selection of clinical trial sites and study designs.
H1 expands AI investment
The partnership comes as H1 continues to expand its financial backing and capabilities.
In May, the company secured a $40 million investment in a funding round led by CVS Health Ventures, the investment arm of CVS Health.
The financing followed several earlier funding rounds.
H1 raised $123 million through a Series C extension in 2022 after initially announcing a $100 million Series C round in November 2021.
The company also closed a $58 million Series B round in 2020, following a $12.9 million Series A investment. In 2018, H1 received $6 million from its incubator, Shore Group.
Novo Nordisk builds AI partnerships
The H1 agreement adds to Novo Nordisk’s growing network of AI partnerships.
Earlier this year, the drug maker announced plans to deploy OpenAI’s advanced AI capabilities across its global operations, including drug discovery, workforce development, manufacturing, commercial activities and supply chain management.
In 2025, Novo Nordisk also partnered with NVIDIA to develop customized AI models and agents for drug discovery.
The company has additionally expanded its collaboration with Valo Health, which began in 2023, to use Valo’s AI technology and human datasets to discover and develop treatments for type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and obesity.
Under the agreement, Valo Health was eligible for an upfront payment, potential near-term milestone payments, and equity investment totaling US$190 million.
It could also receive milestone payments for up to 20 drug programs worth US$4.6 billion, alongside potential royalties and research and development funding.
