Syntegon opens new OSD customer center in Germany to support pharmaceutical manufacturinG
The facility replaces the company’s former OSD Customer Center in nearby Waiblingen and brings laboratories, production equipment and manufacturing facilities closer together.
GERMANY— Syntegon has opened a new customer center for solid oral dosage (OSD) manufacturing in Fellbach, strengthening its support for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical companies developing capsules, tablets and other oral medicines.
The facility replaces the company’s former OSD Customer Center in nearby Waiblingen and brings laboratories, production equipment and manufacturing facilities closer together.
The site includes cleanrooms, a powder laboratory and equipment that allows customers to test formulations and manufacturing processes under conditions that closely reflect commercial production.
Investment in pharmaceutical innovation
Syntegon has invested a double digit million euro amount in the Fellbach site as part of its growth strategy.
The company said the investment will provide customers and employees with improved facilities for developing and refining pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
“With a double digit million investment in Fellbach, we are sending a strong signal in support of our growth strategy and creating an environment that aims to always be one step ahead,” said Thomas Hartkämper, executive vice president of Pharma Solid at Syntegon.
The 7,900-square-meter facility combines the customer center with production operations, creating shorter distances between departments and supporting closer collaboration.
Digital processes and updated infrastructure are also intended to improve efficiency across the site.
According to site manager Markus Reitz, delivery reliability increased by 10 percent during the first few months following the relocation.
He attributed the improvement to stronger cooperation between departments, agile working methods and more efficient processes.
Equipment for formulation and production trials
The Fellbach center enables pharmaceutical and nutraceutical developers and manufacturers to test new formulations and existing products using production equipment.
The facility includes capsule fillers, capsule sealers and tablet presses for development and manufacturing trials.
The company said the center is designed to support customers throughout the product development process, from early formulation work to series production.
“As a true lifecycle partner, we support our customers from the initial idea through to series production,” Reitz said.
The center is also intended to facilitate knowledge transfer between Syntegon specialists and customers.
By allowing companies to evaluate formulations and manufacturing processes on production equipment early on, the facility can help identify technical challenges before products reach commercial manufacturing.
OSD Academy expands to Fellbach
Syntegon will also host its OSD Academy at the new Fellbach site, alongside its existing program in Schopfheim.
The academy provides training and knowledge sharing on solid oral dosage manufacturing technologies.
The next OSD Academy session in Schopfheim is scheduled for October 20 to 22 and will focus on coating technologies.
Syntegon plans to hold the first OSD Academy session at the Fellbach center next year.
