Sidra Medicine expands pediatric care with private home visits in Qatar

QATAR — Sidra Medicine has launched a private home visit service for eligible children in Qatar, offering routine wellness assessments and childhood vaccinations at home.
The service is designed to provide families with an alternative to hospital visits for selected routine pediatric care while maintaining clinical oversight by the hospital’s pediatric teams.
Routine care at home
The Pediatric Private Home Visits: Wellness and Vaccinations program covers routine services that support children’s health and development.
These include wellness assessments, growth and developmental monitoring, feeding guidance, parent education, and scheduled childhood immunizations.
Sidra Medicine said each home visit request undergoes a clinical review before the service is provided.
The assessment is intended to determine whether home-based care is appropriate and safe for the child, based on individual healthcare needs.
The service may reduce the need for families to travel to a hospital for routine appointments, particularly when a child requires preventive care rather than treatment for an acute condition.
However, eligibility and service delivery remain subject to clinical assessment and operational availability.
Supporting preventive pediatric care
Dr. Ahmed Al Hammadi, Chair of Pediatrics at Sidra Medicine, said routine wellness assessments and childhood vaccinations play an important role in supporting healthy growth and development.
He said the home visit program gives families greater flexibility while allowing children to receive pediatric care in a familiar setting.
According to Al Hammadi, the service is intended to improve access to routine pediatric healthcare while maintaining clinical safety, individualized care, and family involvement.
The program is available to eligible Sidra Medicine patients following a clinical assessment.
It is intended for routine pediatric care and does not replace emergency or urgent medical services.
Families requiring immediate medical attention are therefore expected to use appropriate emergency or urgent care pathways.
Expanding home-based healthcare
The introduction of pediatric home visits reflects the broader expansion of healthcare delivery beyond traditional hospital settings.
Home-based services can support preventive care by bringing selected consultations and routine interventions closer to patients and their families.
For pediatric providers, such models also require appropriate clinical screening, vaccination protocols, trained personnel, infection prevention measures, documentation, and arrangements for escalation when a child requires facility-based assessment.
Sidra Medicine’s new service combines these considerations with routine pediatric care, allowing eligible patients to access selected wellness and vaccination services outside the hospital.
The hospital said the program will operate according to clinical suitability and available service capacity.
