Olympus partners with EndoRobotics to expand robot-assisted gastrointestinal procedures

The robot-assisted technologies under this agreement respond directly to this challenge by improving clinical outcomes and reducing procedural complications.

USA—Olympus Corporation has entered into an exclusive global distribution agreement with EndoRobotics to deliver robot-assisted endotherapy technologies to patients worldwide.

The partnership will initially launch in the United States, pending regulatory approval, with plans to expand internationally through Olympus’s established commercial network.

The collaboration centers on deploying robotic systems designed to enhance precision during complex gastrointestinal procedures.

These technologies address the growing challenge of early-stage cancers and precancerous lesions in the GI tract.

EndoRobotics’ devices enable clinicians to remove diseased tissue through advanced endoscopic submucosal dissection without removing entire organs, a significant advancement in minimally invasive treatment.

Rising need for advanced GI solutions

Gastrointestinal cancer rates continue climbing globally, creating urgent demand for more effective treatment options.

The robot-assisted technologies under this agreement respond directly to this challenge by improving clinical outcomes and reducing procedural complications.

EndoRobotics’ development expertise combined with Olympus’s distribution capabilities positions both companies to make these solutions accessible to medical centers worldwide.

Mike Callaghan, general manager of Olympus EndoTherapy, emphasized the significance of this partnership.

“We’re pleased to work with EndoRobotics to advance our therapeutic capabilities,” he said.

“Robot-assisted technologies allow clinicians to perform these complex procedures with greater confidence and efficiency while prioritizing patient safety.”

Expanding the endoluminal robotics portfolio

This agreement reflects Olympus’s broader commitment to advancing endoluminal robotics and expanding therapeutic options within complex endoscopy.

The company recognizes that technological innovation drives clinical progress, and ongoing investment in development remains central to its strategy.

The partnership leverages complementary strengths: EndoRobotics contributes specialized robotic expertise, while Olympus provides the global distribution infrastructure and clinical partnerships necessary to bring innovations to market.

Together, they aim to broaden adoption of advanced treatment methods like endoscopic submucosal dissection across healthcare systems worldwide.

The move aligns with Olympus’s recent initiatives in surgical imaging technology.

Earlier this year, the company launched its VISERA ELITE III surgical imaging platform in the United States, designed to enhance visualisation during procedures and streamline workflow efficiency across multiple specialities.

This partnership underscores how strategic collaborations between specialized technology developers and established medical device companies accelerate patient access to life-changing innovations.
