PureHealth launches Healthy Horizons to advance senior care in Abu Dhabi

Healthy Horizons addresses several health priorities among older adults, including geriatric medicine, chronic disease management, vision health, sleep quality and mental wellbeing.

UAE—PureHealth has partnered with the Family Development Foundation (FDF) to launch Healthy Horizons, a community outreach programme aimed at improving preventive care, healthy ageing and digital health access for Emirati senior citizens in Abu Dhabi.

The initiative is being delivered with the Emirates Foundation, Active Abu Dhabi, and PureHealth entities, including SEHA, SEHA Clinics, Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), and SAKINA.

It combines specialist-led workshops, free health screenings and guided physical activities to help identify health risks early, support timely intervention and improve continuity of care.

Participants also receive assistance with registering for the Pura app, PureHealth’s AI-powered health companion, enabling them to access digital health services and remain connected with their care teams.

Focus on key health needs

Healthy Horizons addresses several health priorities among older adults, including geriatric medicine, chronic disease management, vision health, sleep quality and mental wellbeing.

In addition to receiving practical health advice, participants are connected with PureHealth’s clinical network for continued support after the community sessions.

Fatima Aziz Al Marzouqi, Social Clubs Officer at Barakat Al Dar, part of the Family Development Foundation, said the organisation is committed to programmes that promote the physical and mental wellbeing of senior citizens and residents.

She added that Healthy Horizons can improve access to high-quality healthcare by making services more responsive to individual needs.

According to Al Marzouqi, Barakat Al Dar Social Club also helps senior citizens lead more active and engaged lives by strengthening family relationships and community connections.

She said these efforts reflect the foundation’s commitment to protecting the dignity of older adults, improving their wellbeing and enabling them to remain active members of society.

Leya Al Damani, Chief Sustainability Officer at PureHealth, said sustainable healthcare extends beyond treating illness to include early intervention, community resilience and helping older adults remain active in society.

She added that connecting community outreach with specialist healthcare and digital services across PureHealth’s network would support a model focused on measurable social impact and long-term health outcomes.

Community-based delivery

PureHealth has already begun conducting free preventive screenings and helping senior citizens access the Pura digital health platform.

Meanwhile, 54 trained volunteers from PureHeroes, a national healthcare volunteering platform launched by the Emirates Foundation and PureHealth, have contributed more than 270 service hours to the programme.

The volunteers support community health activities and help establish a structured model that can be expanded to reach more older adults.

Healthy Horizons also forms part of PureHealth’s wider longevity and senior health strategy.

It complements dedicated geriatric services such as the Barakatna Clinic, which SSMC launched in December 2025 in partnership with Abu Dhabi’s Department of Community Development and the Family Development Foundation.

Supporting national healthy-ageing goals

The programme aligns with the UAE’s National Policy for Senior Citizens and supports the objectives of the Centennial Plan 2071 by promoting preventive healthcare, digital readiness and sustainable community wellbeing.

It also supports the Barakatna initiative launched by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to improve the wellbeing and quality of life of senior citizens through Abu Dhabi’s community care system.

Healthy Horizons will operate as a recurring outreach programme, with plans to expand into additional communities, increase preventive screening coverage and strengthen digital follow-up for participating senior citizens.
