UK—Hyperfine has launched its next-generation Swoop portable magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system, Model 2, across select European markets, marking a significant step in the company’s international growth strategy.
The rollout follows the device’s receipt of both the CE mark and UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) certification, allowing hospitals and healthcare providers in eligible European countries to begin purchasing the system.
The launch is designed to broaden access to brain imaging at the point of care, particularly in settings where conventional MRI scanners are unavailable or difficult to access.
By bringing imaging directly to patients, Hyperfine aims to support faster clinical decision-making while reducing delays associated with transporting critically ill patients.
Enhanced imaging and AI capabilities
The new Swoop Model 2 is powered by Hyperfine’s upgraded Optive AI software.
The company says the latest platform delivers sharper image quality, improved workflow efficiency and expanded clinical capabilities compared with the previous generation.
These enhancements allow clinicians to acquire clearer brain images more efficiently, helping them assess patients more quickly in emergency departments, intensive care units, and other bedside settings.
The system remains an ultra-low-field, mobile MRI device that can be moved easily within healthcare facilities.
Hyperfine’s International Vice President, Eric Willis, said the new system represents a major advancement in portable brain imaging technology.
He noted that the improvements in image quality, workflow and clinical performance have already accelerated adoption of the Swoop system across the United States.
Willis added that Hyperfine looks forward to working closely with its distribution partners to expand access to AI-powered portable MRI throughout Europe.
He said the technology will help clinicians obtain critical neuroimaging more quickly and make better-informed treatment decisions.
Expanding presence in France
Alongside the European rollout, Hyperfine confirmed that the Swoop system is now included in the Union of Hospitals for Procurement (UniHA) purchasing catalogue.
The listing enables broader access to the technology across France’s public healthcare system and builds on the company’s initial UniHA listing secured in October 2025.
The inclusion is expected to simplify procurement for French hospitals seeking portable MRI technology while supporting wider clinical adoption.
Hyperfine also recently announced its inclusion in the Russell 2000 and Russell 3000 indexes following the 2026 FTSE Russell reconstitution.
The milestone increases the company’s visibility among institutional investors and reflects its growing position within the healthcare technology sector.
Supporting neurosurgical research
Beyond commercial expansion, Hyperfine continues to strengthen the clinical evidence supporting its technology.
In October 2025, the company enrolled the first participants in its PRISM PMR clinical trial.
The study is evaluating the use of the Swoop portable MRI system inside operating rooms during neurosurgical procedures.
Researchers aim to determine whether real-time brain imaging can improve surgical workflows and patient care.
The Swoop portable MRI system has already received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for brain imaging in patients of all ages.
When interpreted by trained clinicians, the images can support diagnostic decision-making, particularly in healthcare environments where access to traditional MRI systems is limited.
