Libya now joins 27 other countries worldwide that have eliminated trachoma, becoming the eighth nation in the Eastern Mediterranean Region to reach this critical milestone.

President Donald Trump initiated this process exactly one year ago when he signed an executive order on his first day in office in 2025, pointing to what he described as the organization’s “mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic” and its response to “other global health crises.”

The summit takes place in New Delhi from December 17 to 19 and will showcase India’s extensive experience in traditional and complementary medicine.

The survey aims to establish a national baseline on AMR prevalence, assess the distribution and burden of resistance across different regions and populations, and contribute to the global target of reducing AMR deaths by 10 percent by 2030.

The guidance comes as more than one billion people worldwide currently live with obesity, a number projected to double by 2030 without decisive intervention.

Measles cases have increased globally, with an estimated 11 million infections in 2024—about 800,000 more than pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
