Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare opens advanced eye care center in Dhahran

The standalone Eye Care Center occupies 750 square meters of space, delivering an impressive 83% increase in clinical capacity compared to the previous facility.

SAUDI ARABIA—Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) has opened its new Eye Care Center at the Dhahran campus in Saudi Arabia, marking a significant expansion in specialized ophthalmology services for the region.

The facility represents the first major achievement under JHAH’s ambitious Care Forward Plan, a comprehensive multi-year initiative designed to optimize and expand clinical infrastructure across the organization.

Supporting Vision 2030 Goals

The opening demonstrates JHAH’s dedication to supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, advancing the Kingdom’s objectives of promoting preventive care, fostering innovation, and ensuring access to world-class healthcare for all residents.

The new facility positions JHAH as a key contributor to the nation’s healthcare transformation goals.

Expanded capacity

The standalone Eye Care Center occupies 750 square meters of space, delivering an impressive 83% increase in clinical capacity compared to the previous facility.

This substantial expansion allows the center to accommodate more patients while improving service delivery across all ophthalmology specialties.

By consolidating all ophthalmology services under one roof, the center increases appointment availability and reduces wait times for patients seeking eye care.

The centralized approach streamlines care delivery, making it easier for patients to access the full range of services they need without navigating multiple locations.

Advanced medical infrastructure

The new center features additional clinical rooms dedicated to screening, laser procedures, vaccinations, and minor surgeries.

Specialized diagnostic equipment and advanced clinical infrastructure enable healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive eye care services using the latest medical technology.

The patient-centric design incorporates more spacious treatment rooms and enhanced privacy features, creating a safer, more comfortable, and more efficient healthcare experience.

These improvements reflect JHAH’s commitment to putting patient needs at the forefront of facility design and service delivery.

Leadership perspective

Sagar M. Al-Anazi, Chief Operating Officer at Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare, emphasized that patient well-being remains the organization’s top priority.

“The Care Forward Plan reflects our response to the evolving needs of our community, and the Eye Care Center represents an important first step in that direction,” he stated.

Al-Anazi explained that expanding ophthalmology services strengthens the support JHAH provides to the Aramco community and the wider region.

The organization continues to serve those who have trusted them over the past eight decades while welcoming new patients seeking exceptional medical expertise.

Future developments under Care Forward Plan

The Care Forward Plan encompasses a series of strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening access to care, improving patient experience, and supporting JHAH’s Centers of Excellence.

Upcoming projects include expanded inpatient capacity and increased single occupancy rooms to enhance patient privacy throughout the healthcare system.

The plan also includes establishing dedicated oncology and cardiovascular Centers of Excellence focused on prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and research.

These specialized centers will provide comprehensive care for patients facing complex medical conditions.

Another key component focuses on enriching the patient journey by modernizing primary care environments and improving rehabilitation services through relocation to a dedicated facility.

The plan also includes renovating and expanding the Emergency Medical Services department to enhance workflow efficiency and patient care.

With the opening of the Eye Care Center and continued implementation of the Care Forward Plan, Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare reinforces its commitment to delivering world-class care, improving clinical outcomes, and setting new standards for the patient experience across Saudi Arabia.
