M.P. Shah Hospital names Dr. Kalpesh Patel as new board chairman

KENYA—M.P. Shah Hospital has appointed Dr. Kalpesh Patel as its new Chairman of the Board of Directors, with Mr. Mahesh Chandaria serving as co-chair.
The leadership changes are part of the hospital’s ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and support the implementation of its strategic vision.
The appointments will see Dr. Patel take over the chairmanship from Dr. Manoj Shah, who has led the Board through a period of significant development for the Nairobi-based hospital.
Mr. Chandaria will serve alongside Dr. Patel as Co-Chair, providing additional leadership and oversight as the institution continues to expand its healthcare services and strengthen its position in Kenya’s private healthcare sector.
Leadership Transition
The hospital said the new leadership structure reflects the Board’s commitment to strong, values-driven governance and continuity as M.P. Shah Hospital pursues its long-term objectives.
The institution also expressed its appreciation to Dr. Manoj Shah for his leadership, guidance and commitment during his tenure as Chairman.
Under his leadership, the hospital recorded several milestones in clinical excellence, patient-centred care and sustainability.
One of the key achievements during his tenure was the hospital’s recognition as a Joint Commission International (JCI)-accredited institution.
JCI accreditation recognises healthcare organisations that meet internationally recognised standards for quality and patient safety.
Following the leadership transition, Dr. Manoj Shah will remain actively involved with the hospital. He will serve as an Honorary Board Member and Immediate Past Chairman, while also retaining his position on the Executive Committee.
New Chapter for M.P. Shah Hospital
Commenting on the changes, Dr. Toseef Din, Chief Executive Officer of M.P. Shah Hospital, welcomed the incoming leaders and acknowledged Dr. Manoj Shah’s contribution to the institution.
“We warmly welcome Dr. Patel and Mr. Chandaria, and we thank Dr. Shah for his outstanding service and leadership,” said Dr. Din.
The CEO said the leadership transition would build on the hospital’s existing foundation while supporting its continued development and impact.
Dr. Patel’s appointment comes as M.P. Shah Hospital continues to focus on delivering high-quality healthcare while strengthening its organisational systems and services.
The Board will work with hospital management to advance the institution’s strategic priorities and maintain its focus on patient-centred care.

At the same time, Dr. Manoj Shah’s continued involvement through his roles on the Board and Executive Committee will provide institutional continuity during the transition.
