As part of the process, SRC evaluated Magrabi Health against comprehensive standards covering clinical care, patient safety, surgical outcomes, operational performance and patient experience.

UAE—Magrabi Health has become the first healthcare network in the world to receive the Network of Excellence in Ophthalmology accreditation from the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), strengthening its position as a global provider of specialized eye care.
The accreditation recognizes Magrabi Health’s commitment to quality, patient safety, clinical outcomes and innovation across its ophthalmology services.
Rigorous assessment
The Network of Excellence in Ophthalmology accreditation is an international program that assesses healthcare facilities and physicians delivering advanced ophthalmic services.
As part of the process, SRC evaluated Magrabi Health against comprehensive standards covering clinical care, patient safety, surgical outcomes, operational performance and patient experience.
The assessment also examined physicians’ experience and surgical expertise, consulting services, multidisciplinary care, and facility readiness.
This included the availability of advanced surgical equipment, medical devices and technologies.
Magrabi Health met the accreditation requirements across its network, demonstrating its adoption of international best practices and its efforts to provide consistent, integrated care across its facilities.
Commenting on the achievement, Mutasim Alireza, Chief Executive Officer of Magrabi Health, said the organization was proud to become the first healthcare network globally to receive the SRC accreditation.
“This achievement reflects our steadfast commitment to delivering the highest standards of quality, achieving the best clinical outcomes and providing an exceptional patient experience throughout every stage of the healthcare journey,” he said.
Alireza added that the SRC accreditation stands out because it evaluates both healthcare facilities and the physicians responsible for patient care.
He said the recognition reflects Magrabi Health’s approach to developing an integrated specialized care system that combines medical expertise, innovation and international best practices.
Focus on quality and innovation
Abdulrahman Barzangi, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Magrabi Health, said the accreditation resulted from coordinated efforts across the group’s facilities.
These efforts included standardizing clinical practices and protocols, strengthening cooperation between medical and operational teams, investing in staff training and regularly reviewing performance indicators.
According to Barzangi, the approach has helped establish a culture centered on quality improvement and consistent clinical standards.
The accreditation adds to Magrabi Health’s more than 70 year history in ophthalmology.
The organization has marked several milestones in the region, including performing its first corneal transplant, introducing LASIK vision correction and adopting artificial intelligence technologies to support the early detection of diabetic retinopathy.
The group has also secured Centers of Excellence in Ophthalmology accreditation for several hospitals and centers, while a number of its consultants and surgeons have received Distinguished Surgeon accreditation.
Expanding specialized eye care
Magrabi Health plans to continue expanding its Centers of Excellence, investing in advanced ophthalmic technologies, supporting research and innovation, and strengthening medical education and training programs.
The organization said these efforts support the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program and Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 agenda to improve healthcare services and quality of life.
