ADCAN Pharma partners with Menarini to manufacture essential medicines locally in Abu Dhabi

The agreement was formalised during a signing ceremony held at ADCAN Pharma’s advanced manufacturing facility in Abu Dhabi, bringing together senior leadership from both organisations and key healthcare stakeholders.

UAE—ADCAN Pharma has entered into a strategic partnership with the global pharmaceutical company Menarini to strengthen local drug manufacturing and expand access to essential medicines across the UAE and the wider GCC region.

The agreement was formalised during a signing ceremony held at ADCAN Pharma’s advanced manufacturing facility in Abu Dhabi, bringing together senior leadership from both organisations and key healthcare stakeholders.

Under the collaboration, ADCAN Pharma will locally manufacture selected Menarini products and support batch release activities within the UAE.

The arrangement leverages ADCAN’s Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)-certified facilities and regulatory expertise, ensuring production meets strict international quality standards while supporting faster market availability.

Strengthening manufacturing capacity and supply chains

Through this partnership, both companies aim to improve medicine availability and reduce reliance on extended global supply chains.

By localising production, the initiative is expected to lower supply chain disruptions and enhance timely access to critical therapies for patients in the region.

The agreement also positions ADCAN Pharma as a key localisation partner for multinational pharmaceutical companies seeking to establish or expand manufacturing footprints in the Gulf.

In addition, it is expected to increase facility utilisation, broaden ADCAN’s production portfolio, and open new revenue streams while deepening technical capabilities.

Regulatory and institutional support

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr Shaikha Al Mazrouei, Director of the Research and Laboratories Department at the Emirates Drug Establishment, alongside senior representatives from both companies and healthcare institutions.

Their presence underscored the growing regulatory and institutional support for pharmaceutical localisation initiatives in the UAE.

Leadership perspectives on the collaboration

ADCAN Pharma Chief Executive Officer Dr Fokion Sinis said the partnership aligns with the company’s long-term strategy to reinforce the UAE’s pharmaceutical manufacturing ecosystem.

He noted that combining Menarini’s global research and commercial expertise with ADCAN’s manufacturing infrastructure would help strengthen a more resilient and sustainable healthcare supply chain.

Menarini’s regional head for the Middle East and Africa, Dr Basel Thaher, highlighted that the UAE continues to set a benchmark for healthcare innovation and industrial localisation.

He added that the collaboration supports broader efforts to build in-country pharmaceutical capabilities while improving patient access to high-quality medicines.

Expanding role in regional pharma development

In recent months, the UAE pharmaceutical sector has continued to attract international manufacturers seeking local production partnerships as part of wider healthcare self-sufficiency goals.

Within this evolving landscape, ADCAN Pharma has maintained an active role in positioning itself as a regional manufacturing and regulatory partner, particularly for companies aiming to localise production across the GCC.

The company continues to align its operations with national development priorities focused on innovation, affordability, and healthcare resilience.

As part of this direction, ADCAN Pharma is expanding its manufacturing capacity and strengthening collaborations that support technology transfer and regional supply stability.

Through this latest agreement, both ADCAN Pharma and Menarini are advancing a shared focus on improving production efficiency, reinforcing regulatory compliance, and enhancing the availability of essential treatments in the UAE healthcare system.
