Aster DM Healthcare to invest in International Modern Hospital in Dubai

With 116 beds and 39 outpatient clinics, IMH will add to Aster’s existing capacity of 399 hospital beds in the UAE.

UAE—Aster DM Healthcare has agreed to invest in International Modern Hospital (IMH), a multispecialty hospital in Al Mankhool, Dubai, following an agreement with Al Tawfeeq for Development and Investment (ATDI).

The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals and forms part of Aster’s strategy to expand its healthcare network in the UAE.

The investment is included in Aster’s previously announced commitment of more than AED 1 billion (US$272.3 million) over five years to expand its primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary healthcare services across the country.

The company said the deal will also support its plans to increase its hospital presence in the UAE.

With 116 beds and 39 outpatient clinics, IMH will add to Aster’s existing capacity of 399 hospital beds in the UAE.

The transaction will expand the group’s ability to provide specialist and outpatient services to patients in Dubai.

Expanding integrated healthcare services

Dr Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, said the UAE remains an important market for the group and that its growth has been driven by investments, innovation, and partnerships.

He said adding IMH to the group’s network would strengthen Aster’s presence in Dubai and support its efforts to expand access to advanced healthcare services.

The investment, he added, reflects the company’s confidence in the UAE healthcare sector and its commitment to creating long-term value for patients and communities.

Established as a healthcare provider in Dubai, IMH offers a range of multidisciplinary medical services.

Through the partnership, Aster plans to combine the hospital’s existing capabilities with its broader healthcare network to improve access to specialists, strengthen referral pathways and provide more integrated care.

Aster currently operates 10 hospitals, 112 clinics and 310 pharmacies in the UAE, supported by digital healthcare platforms.

Focus on patient access and continuity of care

Alisha Moopen, Managing Director and Group CEO for GCC at Aster DM Healthcare, said adding IMH marks an important step in the group’s UAE expansion.

She said integrating IMH into Aster’s healthcare network would help increase access to services and create a more connected patient experience, while supporting the group’s focus on clinical excellence, technology and patient centred care.

Patients are expected to benefit from access to a wider range of specialists, improved referral pathways and Aster’s digital healthcare services.

Dr Sherbaz Bichu, CEO of Aster Hospitals and Clinics in the UAE, Oman and Bahrain, said IMH had established a strong reputation for healthcare delivery in Dubai.

He said Aster would combine the strengths of both organisations to expand clinical capabilities, improve continuity of care, and support better patient outcomes.

IMH to retain its legacy

Aidroos, representing IMH, said the hospital had built its reputation since its establishment in 2005 and its inauguration by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

He said preserving IMH’s name, legacy and service quality was an important consideration as the hospital entered its next phase of development.

He added that the hospital chose to partner with Aster because of its regional presence, leadership, and healthcare expertise.

According to Aidroos, the investment will strengthen IMH’s operations and services while preserving its legacy and supporting the objectives of the Dubai Social Agenda 33.
