The announcement comes as part of Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33, which aims to position the emirate as a global healthcare destination.

UAE—Aster DM Healthcare is making a bold move to reshape the UAE’s healthcare sector with an ambitious AED 1 billion (USD 272 million) investment pipeline.
The announcement comes as part of Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33, which aims to position the emirate as a global healthcare destination.
Dr. Azad Moopen, who founded Aster nearly four decades ago, says the company’s mission has remained unchanged: making quality healthcare accessible to everyone.
“This announcement reflects our deep commitment to the UAE, a country that has consistently championed innovation, excellence, and patient-centricity in healthcare,” he explains.
The expansion will bring advanced treatments closer to patients while strengthening the country’s position as a global healthcare hub.
Rapid growth across the region
Today, Aster operates one of the largest integrated healthcare networks in the GCC, running 15 hospitals, 126 clinics, and 338 pharmacies throughout the Middle East.
The company currently serves 17.6 million people annually through its myAster digital platform, but that number is set to skyrocket.
Over the next five years, Aster plans to reach 75 million people each year across the region.
The expansion is not limited to the UAE, as Aster is investing USD 250 million in Saudi Arabia to develop hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, and digital health services throughout the kingdom.
New hospitals and expanded capacity
Two brand-new multi-specialty hospitals are coming to Dubai, with locations planned for Studio City and Discovery Gardens.
Together, these facilities will add more than 250 beds to Aster’s existing network of roughly 920 beds in the UAE.
Once they open their doors, the hospitals are expected to treat an additional 560,000 patients every year while creating over 675 healthcare jobs.
Meanwhile, Aster Hospital in Al Qusais is getting a major facelift through a new annex building that will add 122 operational beds.
The AED 300 million (USD 82 million) project will strengthen the hospital’s oncology center and other high-demand specialties, with completion expected by late 2028.
Groundbreaking medical services
Aster has received approval to open Sharjah’s first private multi-organ transplant center, which will operate through Medcare Hospital.
The facility will bring together international experts and multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex organ transplant procedures that patients currently travel abroad to receive.
Building on the success of its Muscat facility, Aster is bringing its Al Raffah Walk Again Advanced Robotic Rehabilitation Centre to the UAE.
The center will feature 18 cutting-edge robotic devices, including FDA-approved technologies like robotic exoskeletons and brain-computer interface systems.
These tools will help patients with severe neurological and mobility disorders regain movement and independence.
The rehabilitation center will also house the region’s first Advanced Paediatric Neurorehabilitation Centre, specifically designed for children with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, cerebral palsy, intellectual disabilities, and other neurodevelopmental conditions.
The facility will combine AI-enabled cognitive mapping, virtual reality learning experiences, and FDA-approved neuromodulation technologies with structured developmental therapies.
Advanced technology and precision medicine
Aster continues to push the boundaries of medical technology.
The company recently made history when Medcare became the first hospital worldwide to treat an international patient with Itvisma, a revolutionary gene therapy for Spinal Muscular Atrophy delivered directly to the spinal fluid.
The group is also expanding its robotic surgery capabilities by introducing the latest Da Vinci surgical platforms across its network.
These systems enable surgeons to perform minimally invasive procedures with unprecedented precision.
Preventive care through digital innovation
The myAster platform is launching a comprehensive preventive health assessment based on a 100-biomarker test.
This approach moves healthcare away from reactive check-ups toward proactive wellness by analyzing blood health, cardiac function, metabolism, hormones, inflammation, and nutrition as an interconnected system.
Qualified doctors will review the insights and deliver personalized recommendations through the digital platform, helping people identify potential health issues before symptoms appear.
Aster is also implementing AI-powered diagnostic tools throughout its network.
Technologies like Medcare’s Cardio Explorer and Air doc machines help doctors identify disease biomarkers early, allowing for timely preventive intervention.
The company is developing a unified hospital information system to deliver a seamless patient experience across all its facilities in the UAE, Oman, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia.
Expanding retail and wellness offerings
At the World Health Expo 2026, Aster Pharmacy showcased 38 brands from 15 countries and launched seven new brands in the UAE market.
A standout introduction was NDL, a premium sports nutrition brand backed by tennis legend Rafael Nadal, marking the brand’s first expansion beyond Spain.
Aster Pharmacy recently opened a wellness destination at The Point in Marina, where customers can shop, consult with experts, and experience health products before purchasing.
Alisha Moopen, Managing Director and Group CEO of Aster DM Healthcare, speaking at the expo, emphasized that the future of healthcare depends on combining advanced clinical capabilities with intelligent digital integration.
“Our AED 1 billion pipeline isn’t just about adding beds or infrastructure,” she notes.
“It’s about enabling world-class care pathways locally, supported by technology, specialized talent, and a connected patient experience.”
The expansion positions Aster as the second-largest healthcare delivery company in the UAE, according to HBI, while Aster DM Healthcare India has become the country’s third-largest healthcare company following its merger with the Blackstone-led Quality Care group.
