Ajman University collaborates with Sheikh Khalifa Hospitals to transform UAE healthcare education

The partnership gives Ajman University students access to three major healthcare facilities: Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital in Umm Al Quwain, Sheikh Khalifa Specialty Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah, and Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Ajman.

UAE—Ajman University has partnered with Sheikh Khalifa Hospitals, part of PureHealth, the Middle East’s largest healthcare group, to strengthen the nation’s medical education landscape.

The strategic partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding, creates a direct pathway for students to gain hands-on clinical experience while pursuing their academic degrees in medicine and health sciences.

Bridging academic learning with clinical practice

The collaboration brings together educational excellence and real-world healthcare delivery, positioning students to learn from experienced clinicians across world-class medical facilities.

Rather than remaining confined to lecture halls and theoretical study, students will now rotate through Sheikh Khalifa Hospitals’ integrated network, experiencing diverse clinical environments and medical specialties firsthand.

The partnership gives Ajman University students access to three major healthcare facilities: Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital in Umm Al Quwain, Sheikh Khalifa Specialty Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah, and Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Ajman.

Collectively, these institutions operate approximately 688 beds and employ over 2,500 healthcare professionals, including roughly 460 physicians.

This scale provides students with exposure to a breadth of medical expertise and patient care scenarios that would otherwise be difficult to access.

Supporting UAE’s healthcare workforce development

The signing ceremony took place at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Ajman, where Professor Khaled Assaleh, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Ajman University, and the hospital network’s leadership officially established the agreement.

The event reflected the shared vision of both organizations to build a resilient, future-ready healthcare workforce.

Dr. Aref Al Shehi, CEO of The Medical Office, emphasized that the partnership advances health education and scientific research across the UAE.

He highlighted that by connecting students with experienced clinicians and state-of-the-art facilities, the collaboration ensures the next generation of healthcare professionals enters the workforce with both strong academic foundations and practical clinical competencies.

Professor Assaleh echoed this commitment, noting that the partnership positions students at the forefront of clinical practice.

He stressed that graduates will emerge not only with academic credentials but with the real-world skills required to serve their communities effectively, laying the groundwork for a fruitful long-term collaboration.

Long-term vision for healthcare excellence

Both institutions recognize this partnership as a foundation for future joint initiatives benefiting the healthcare and academic sectors alike.

Through this arrangement, Ajman University and The Medical Office intend to strengthen clinical education, advance healthcare research, and contribute meaningfully to developing a skilled and sustainable healthcare workforce throughout the UAE.
