M42 to develop Mubadala Health Bahrain facility to expand specialist care

Developed through a joint venture between M42 and Bahraini partner HealthVision, Mubadala Health Bahrain will bring multiple medical specialties and diagnostic services under one roof.

UAE—M42 has announced plans to develop Mubadala Health Bahrain, a multidisciplinary healthcare facility in Bahrain Bay, to expand access to specialised medical services and strengthen the Kingdom’s healthcare capacity.

The announcement was made at the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit, alongside a strategic agreement between M42 and Bahrain’s Future Generations Reserve (FGR) to secure a location for the facility.

The project will mark M42’s second healthcare facility in Bahrain and extend its regional presence.

Facility to offer 20 medical specialties

Developed through a joint venture between M42 and Bahraini partner HealthVision, Mubadala Health Bahrain will bring multiple medical specialties and diagnostic services under one roof.

Its planned services span endocrinology, cardiology, gastroenterology, oncology, neurology, orthopaedics, paediatrics, dentistry, ophthalmology and physiotherapy, alongside surgical services across six inpatient specialties at launch.

The facility will also introduce services in precision medicine, genomics, artificial intelligence (AI), longevity and wellness.

These capabilities align with the growing use of data-driven healthcare to support more personalised prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

Sh. Fahad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Chairman of Mubadala Health Bahrain, said the facility would integrate specialised services and international clinical expertise to support Bahrain’s healthcare priorities and bring care closer to patients.

M42 Group Chief Executive Officer Dimitris Moulavasilis said Bahrain remained an important market in the group’s regional growth strategy.

He added that the project would combine local partnerships with clinical expertise to improve access to care and strengthen healthcare system resilience.

Bahrain Bay investment supports healthcare expansion

The agreement with FGR secures a location at the Future Generations Reserve Tower in Bahrain Bay, a major waterfront development.

Established under Bahrain’s Ministry of Finance and National Economy, the fund invests in initiatives intended to support the country’s long-term economic development.

FGR Chief Executive Officer Sh. Ali bin Salman Al Khalifa said the agreement supported the fund’s investment objectives while reinforcing Bahrain Bay’s appeal and contributing to community health and economic resilience.

The project also reflects closer healthcare cooperation between the UAE and Bahrain, with cross-border investment helping expand specialised clinical infrastructure and local service capacity.

Project to create jobs and develop local talent

Mubadala Health Bahrain is expected to employ approximately 200 people, with a focus on Bahrainisation, the employment and development of Bahraini nationals.

The initiative is intended to create skilled jobs while strengthening the local healthcare workforce.

Dr Mohamed Ameen AlSaati, Chief Executive Officer of M42 Bahrain, acknowledged the Bahraini government, the Bahrain Economic Development Board, and Tamkeen for enabling the group’s expansion.

He said the immediate priority was to translate the announcement into a facility that meets local healthcare needs and is operationally prepared to deliver services.

The development forms part of M42’s broader strategy of combining international clinical capabilities with local partnerships to expand specialised care in its markets.

Its planned integration of conventional medical specialties with genomics and precision medicine also reflects the industry’s shift towards more connected, technology-enabled healthcare delivery.
