Oman’s Dhamani Platform attains 60% pharmacy network linkage

OMAN—Oman has advanced its national digital health transformation as the Financial Services Authority (FSA) continues to scale up the Dhamani health insurance platform, which connects healthcare providers, pharmacies, and insurers through a unified digital network.

The latest expansion introduces pharmacies into Phase II of the platform, enabling fully electronic prescription (e-Rx) sharing across the healthcare ecosystem.

This development allows prescriptions issued in private healthcare facilities to be transmitted directly to pharmacies in real time.

As a result, patients can access medication faster, while healthcare providers and insurers coordinate more efficiently through a single digital system.

Building a fully digital prescription journey

With the Phase II rollout, Dhamani now supports an end-to-end digital prescription process that eliminates paper-based documentation.

Doctors issue prescriptions electronically, which are then routed to pharmacies for dispensing and later processed for insurance claims and settlements within the same platform.

According to the FSA, this integrated workflow significantly reduces administrative delays and improves coordination between stakeholders.

It also strengthens transparency in claims processing and helps standardize pharmacy-related transactions across the insurance system.

The platform now enables the secure exchange of approvals, billing, and settlements among pharmacies, insurers, and healthcare providers, reducing reliance on manual paperwork by up to 98% in certain processes.

Rapid adoption among pharmacies

The expansion has already recorded notable uptake, with around 271 pharmacies registered on the platform and connectivity reaching approximately 60% of the pharmacy network.

This growth reflects increasing adoption of digital tools within Oman’s healthcare sector.

Pharmacies can now receive prescriptions directly without physical documents, allowing them to serve patients more quickly and efficiently while reducing operational bottlenecks.
