UAE—Boehringer Ingelheim has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Aster DM Healthcare to strengthen medical education, patient engagement, and disease awareness for Cardio-Renal-Metabolic (CRM) diseases in the United Arab Emirates.

The partnership brings together one of the world’s leading research-driven biopharmaceutical companies and one of the region’s largest integrated healthcare providers to improve disease prevention, encourage earlier diagnosis, and enhance patient care through collaborative initiatives.

Strategic partnership to improve healthcare

The agreement was formalised during a signing ceremony attended by senior representatives from both organisations.

Aster DM Healthcare was represented by Rahul Kadavakolu, Group Chief Marketing Officer, while Boehringer Ingelheim was represented by Ousama Alhaj, General Manager and Head of Human Pharma for the Near East and UAE, alongside Ghaleb Al Ahdab, Head of Public and Government Affairs for the Near East and UAE.

Under the partnership, the two organisations will combine Aster DM Healthcare’s extensive clinical network with Boehringer Ingelheim’s expertise in Cardio-Renal-Metabolic diseases.

Together, they plan to deliver educational programmes for healthcare professionals, expand patient awareness campaigns, and promote screening initiatives that encourage earlier detection and intervention.

The collaboration also seeks to strengthen clinical knowledge while equipping patients with reliable information to help them better understand and manage chronic conditions such as cardiovascular, kidney, and metabolic diseases.

Focus on education and early intervention

Dr. Malathi Arshanapalai, Group Chief Medical Officer and Group Chief Quality Officer at Aster DM Healthcare, said the partnership reflects the organisation’s belief that strong collaborations play a vital role in advancing healthcare.

She noted that working with Boehringer Ingelheim will help empower healthcare professionals through continued medical education while improving patient education and encouraging earlier intervention through awareness campaigns and screening programmes.

According to Dr. Arshanapalai, these joint efforts are expected to improve health outcomes for people living with Cardio-Renal-Metabolic diseases across the region.

Building a more connected care model

Ousama Alhaj, General Manager and Head of Human Pharma for the Near East and UAE at Boehringer Ingelheim, said improving lives across generations remains central to the company’s mission.

He explained that the growing burden of Cardio-Renal-Metabolic diseases requires a coordinated approach because cardiovascular, kidney, and metabolic conditions are closely linked and often affect patients simultaneously.

He added that improving long-term outcomes depends on stronger collaboration between healthcare providers, industry partners, and patients.

Such cooperation, he said, can support disease prevention, enable earlier diagnosis, and promote more coordinated care throughout the patient journey.

Alhaj further noted that the partnership with Aster DM Healthcare reflects this shared commitment to building a more resilient healthcare ecosystem while delivering meaningful benefits to patients and communities.

Framework for future initiatives

Beyond the immediate programmes, the MoU establishes a framework for future joint initiatives across the UAE and Jordan.

These initiatives will focus on professional medical education, patient-centred awareness campaigns, preventive healthcare programmes, and community outreach activities aimed at addressing the growing burden of chronic Cardio-Renal-Metabolic diseases.

Through these collaborative efforts, both organisations intend to strengthen healthcare capacity, expand public awareness, and improve access to preventive care for people at risk of CRM conditions.
