THE NETHERLANDS—Royal Philips has introduced the eV14-2v transvaginal transducer, expanding its ultrasound portfolio for obstetrics and gynecology with a device designed to support a wider range of examinations using a single transducer.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has cleared the eV14-2v through the 510(k) pathway, and the device has also received CE marking.
Philips will showcase the new transducer at the 36th International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) World Congress.
Improved imaging and workflow
Clinicians perform a wide range of gynecological and obstetric examinations, from routine pelvic assessments and infertility investigations to early pregnancy scans and more complex cases.
Switching between transducers to achieve the required balance of penetration and image resolution can interrupt examinations and increase procedure times.
Philips designed the eV14-2v to reduce the need for such changes.
The lightweight transducer provides enhanced penetration, improved image resolution and a wider field of view, supporting routine gynecology and early obstetric examinations.
According to Philips, the eV14-2v delivers a 41.7% increase in penetration, a 10% improvement in 2D resolution and a 15.8% wider field of view compared with the previous generation.
Its 22% lighter design also aims to improve comfort for clinicians during examinations.

He said Philips is combining high quality imaging with intelligent workflows and connected technologies to simplify ultrasound examinations for both clinicians and patients.
Applications in obstetrics and gynecology

The transducer enables detailed visualization of anatomy relevant to infertility investigations and pelvic pain associated with conditions including endometriosis and fibroids.
Philips also said its imaging capabilities, including 2D and color resolution, can support the detection of fetal abnormalities and visualization of fetal cardiac chambers as early as 13 weeks of pregnancy.
“Reducing transducer changes during exams has a meaningful impact, not just on efficiency, but on the patient experience as well,” said Michael S. Ruma, MD, MPH, of Perinatal Associates of New Mexico.
“With the eV14-2v, we are able to complete more exams with a single transducer while maintaining excellent image quality,” he added.
Remote consultation capabilities
The eV14-2v is also compatible with Philips Collaboration Live, enabling real time remote consultation during ultrasound examinations.
Clinicians can share live images, receive guidance and consult other care teams without requiring patients to travel.
Philips said the capability can support access to specialist care in underserved communities while helping healthcare providers deliver care more efficiently.
At ISUOG 2026, attendees will also be able to explore other Philips women’s health ultrasound technologies, including the Alturion ultrasound system, EPIQ Elite, Lumify and Flash with Collaboration Live.
