The new Strengthening Public Health Surveillance and Resilient Knowledge for Non-Communicable Diseases in Africa (SPARK-NCD) programme aims to improve disease surveillance, workforce capacity, and integrated care across the continent.

The initiative will support patients with the greatest medical and financial needs by improving access to advanced therapies within a framework aligned with the UAE’s national health insurance system.

The appointment comes as Africa intensifies efforts to strengthen its response to the ongoing Ebola outbreak while accelerating the development of African-led medicines, vaccines and outbreak-ready innovations.

By earning the certification, Royal Bahrain Hospital joins a select group of healthcare institutions across the Arab region recognised for placing patient experience at the centre of healthcare delivery.

The procedure was successfully carried out on a 55-year-old patient with multiple myeloma and signals the launch of the hospital’s new Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Program.

The new status gives MKRH its own Board of Directors, an approved organizational structure, and direct funding from the National Exchequer.

Under the partnership, the two organizations will work together to enhance HMC’s Clinical Trials Unit (CTU), strengthen research expertise, and develop initiatives that support the continued growth of Qatar’s healthcare sector.
