Under the new framework, Arcera Life Sciences will collaborate with M42 to harness genomics data and explore disease prevalence patterns across targeted genetic and rare conditions.

UAE—M42 and global life sciences company Arcera Life Sciences have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a strategic, non-exclusive partnership aimed at accelerating biopharma localisation, clinical development, and next-generation healthcare innovation in Abu Dhabi.
The collaboration aligns with the broader vision of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi to position the emirate as a leading global hub for life sciences and precision medicine.
Through this agreement, the partners intend to strengthen an integrated ecosystem that connects clinical research, genomics, and advanced therapeutics, particularly to address genetic and rare diseases through scalable, data-driven solutions.
Leveraging genomics and advanced health data
Under the new framework, Arcera Life Sciences will collaborate with M42 to harness genomics data and explore disease prevalence patterns across targeted genetic and rare conditions.
The partners will draw on national health datasets and research insights to support more accurate disease mapping and therapeutic targeting.
M42 will contribute its advanced healthcare data platforms, artificial intelligence capabilities, and clinical infrastructure, while Arcera will bring expertise in late-stage drug development, market access strategies, and biopharmaceutical commercialization.
Together, the organizations aim to accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries into accessible patient treatments across the region.
By integrating genomics insights enabled through Department of Health initiatives with real-world clinical and operational capabilities, the collaboration is expected to strengthen precision medicine approaches and support the development of innovative therapies, including cell and gene-based treatments.
Four strategic pillars of collaboration
According to M42, the partnership will focus on four key strategic pillars designed to shape long-term capability building in Abu Dhabi’s life sciences sector.
The first pillar, genomics-informed therapeutic development, will use population-scale genomic insights generated by national research programs to guide precision medicine and accelerate the development of next-generation therapies.
This will include leveraging data analytics and genomics to identify treatment opportunities for complex diseases.
The second pillar focuses on accelerating clinical development.
Through this, the partners will support late-stage clinical trials, improve evidence generation frameworks, and expand patient access to innovative therapies in regulated environments.
The third pillar centers on advanced biobanking and regenerative medicine.
In this area, capabilities such as those provided by the Abu Dhabi Biobank will support stem cell research, translational medicine, and breakthrough therapeutic development.
The fourth pillar emphasizes digital and AI-enabled transformation.
This component will integrate artificial intelligence and digital health technologies across the entire life sciences value chain, improving efficiency, accelerating research timelines, and reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s leadership in AI-driven healthcare innovation.
Building a scalable framework for innovation
Beyond these pillars, the partnership will establish a structured framework to evaluate joint opportunities, identify priority research and development use cases, and support collaboration across clinical development and commercialization pathways.
Both organizations aim to create practical mechanisms that enable faster translation of research into real-world healthcare solutions while building long-term institutional capability within the UAE.
Leadership perspectives on the collaboration
Dr. Asma Al Mannaei, Executive Director of the Health Life Sciences Sector at the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, welcomed the agreement, noting that it reflects the emirate’s expanding strengths in life sciences and its ambition to become a global innovation hub.
She emphasized that ongoing investments in health data infrastructure, genomics, and clinical research continue to create an enabling environment for biopharma advancement and improved treatment development for rare and genetic diseases.
Dr. Fahad Al Marzooqi, CEO of M42 Integrated Health Solutions, highlighted that the partnership reflects M42’s strategic role in strengthening Abu Dhabi’s life sciences ecosystem.
He noted that combining M42’s AI-driven healthcare delivery systems with Arcera’s development expertise will help accelerate biopharma capabilities, expand clinical development opportunities, and support the effective translation of innovation into patient care.
Arcera Life Sciences CEO Isabel Afonso described the collaboration as a reflection of Abu Dhabi’s growing integrated life sciences ecosystem, where innovation, manufacturing, and patient access converge.
She added that the partnership supports biopharma localisation, strengthens clinical development capacity, and advances genomics- and AI-driven healthcare innovation across the region.
